How often do we meet and for how long? |
The frequency of sessions depends on the severity of your problem and your need for support, as well as your availability and finances. The scheduling of sessions is flexible and I don't set rules about how often or when we should meet. During our first meetings we work to clarify what your problems are, and to define where you want to get to, and how. I help you to keep sight of these goals throughout therapy, and from time to time other issues may arise as we work together that you also feel you want help with. Once we both feel you are getting close to functioning at a point where you no longer need therapy, we begin to increase the amount of time between sessions, so you know I am there if you need me, but you are able to test your coping skills and resources. How long that process from beginning to ending is will vary with each client, but in general I see therapy as a brief process where I step into your life only for the time that I am needed.

Where do we meet? |
Currently all sessions are online via secure video link. This has the advantage of allowing you to meet in a place where you feel comfortable and with no need to take time out of your schedule to travel to see me. Sometimes people are concerned that meeting online may not as helpful as meeting in person, but I have not found that to be true. In fact, meeting in this way can remove distractions and reduce client anxiety about meeting a stranger for the first time, plus it can offer more flexibility in terms of finding time to meet as clients are often available during their lunch break or the days they can work from home. To date I have found it just as effective as meeting in person, with the only difference being that I am not there to offer you a Kleenex if you need it!

How much does therapy cost and how do I pay? |
The fee is 100 euros per 60 minute session. All prospective clients are offered a free initial meeting of 15 minutes so they can give more information about the kind of help they are looking for and take the opportunity to ask questions. There is no obligation to book your first session during that initial first meeting and I always ask people to reflect and get back in contact with me if they would like to move forward. Some clients are able to claim a portion of their therapy fees from their private health insurance and I can provide a receipt to help with this, but please note that I am not ADELI registered if you are living in France.
If you need to cancel a session then I do ask that you give 24 hours notice so I can offer that time to someone else if they need it. Clients who don’t adhere to this request will be charged for missed sessions. I have an online calendar so booking and changing sessions is very easy. If you are interested in exploring counselling as an option, please either contact me through the contact page on this website or email me directly at dr.julieaskew@gmail.com. |
